Reading this article on the benefits of increasing use of spinal anesthesia on infants completely changed the course of ISM.

I realized that, if I had no idea about the different types of anesthesia, many people must also be unaware. 

I also realized that the controversy over the *effects of general anesthesia on neurodevelopment of infants and young children drew me in*. Thus, I changed my ISM topic from anesthesia to pediatric anesthesia.
