Let me show you just how small the world is. It may have a circumference of 24,901 miles, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.
A little backstory: I am creating a checklist for my final product, and Mr. Green suggested I read the Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande. He lent me the book last week, and I have started to read it.
Here is where it gets really crazy:
For my Mentor Visit last week, I mentioned that I was reading the Checklist Manifesto to get a better understanding of checklists. And Dr. Mendoza mentioned that she knew Atul Gawande! Apparently, she worked under him at the Ariadne Research Lab, and is familiar with his affinity for checklists. On top of Dr. Mendoza knowing my AP Biology teacher, Miss Wudeck, from high school, I cannot believe that there are so many connections that lead to Dr. Mendoza. In a way, finding her is an example of our world being so small; it is merely a coincidence that Mr. Green’s daughter’s childhood friend is an anesthesiologist.
Anyways, I digress.
In other news, this past week has been focused on getting ready for the UNT showcase that is coming up in about 2 weeks. We had the mini showcase on Wednesday, and it went fairly well. The only thing that I would change is my shoes (ouch) and my title stickers (they kept falling off).
Overall, I feel almost prepared for the showcase, and I think I am in a good place final product wise.
