This past week has been quite a whirlwind.
First of all, after 2 weeks, we finished all of the research speeches. Now, I went on the first day, so for the past 2 weeks I have been listening to my classmates' speeches. I have learnt so much from all of my classmates, and I have gained more confidence in my ISM pathway, especially in my Original Work, which will be coming up soon.
The second thing I had to do this week was create a Guest list for the Final Presentation Night, which will be in April. I was surprised that I had to start thinking about this event almost 5 months before, but after hearing Mr. Green's justification that we need a committed audience, I started creating my list. It currently consists of my parents, sister, brother, neighbors (family of four), and my two best friends. That brings the total to 10, but I still need at least 5 people more on my guest list. I am considering asking my kindergarten teacher, Miss Shields, my Stats teacher, Mrs. Allen, and Dr. Swanson. Of course, I will also invite my mentor.
On the topic of mentor, Mr. Green has started asking us how far we are in finding a mentor. While he was making his rounds in class this week, I heard a few people telling him that they have found possible mentor. I even heard one girls say that she has a mentor! This discouraged me because of how hard it is to find anesthesiologists, but I gained hope when I heard how much other people are struggling.
In reflection for this week, I hope to find a mentor in the coming months (hopefully before winter break). I also hope to have an outstanding Original Work!
