Wow! This past week has been so busy because… the Showcase at UNT is coming up!
I have spent so much time doing work for ISM, but the most time-consuming endeavor is the presentation board. I kid you not when I say that I must have spent more than 30 hours working on compiling that board, with 10 of those hours being dedicated in the last week.
Much of that 30 hours goes to travel time to and from the various art stores in our area (and even those not in our area). I have gone to CVS (in a moment of desperation), Hobby Lobby and Michaels, and I can safely say that I prefer Hobby Lobby because of the wide variety of crafting goods they have available (I got my tri-fold, rubber cement, and presentation letters from there). However, I do have to give Michaels credit for being closer to me, meaning I have been making trips there virtually everyday after school to buy more cardstock for the background, as well as decorative elements to give my board a bit of pizzazz. Honestly, at this point, I know all of the employees by name!
We are also preparing for the trial run for the UNT showcase, which will be in the Frisco High cafeteria on Wednesday during all the lunches (I can already hear my feet begging for mercy). The purpose of this mini showcase is to ensure everyone is prepared for the actual showcase (meaning they have all their supplies, parts of their outfits, and know what topics they are going to speak on). Additionally, this mini showcase also aims to attract attention to ISM, and promote applications for the next school year.
This mini showcase has a lot riding on it. Wish me luck!
